Roll up your sleeves and get ready to master the griddle at this private, hands-on cooking demo and instruction at the popular Gotham Burger Social Club’s original Lower East Side location (featured in magazines like Conde Nast Traveler). Hosted by Gotham Burger partner, Dame Tanya Shevloff-Roth, and founder Mike Puma, we’ll start with welcome aperitif cocktails and some of the restaurant’s signature small plates such as loaded tots, followed by a detailed smash burger cooking demo by Mike. Then we’ll hit the griddles to make our own burgers in the restaurant’s open kitchen environment, all under Mike’s and Tanya’s expert tutelage. Classic and innovative fixings and sides will also be on the menu.

Once we’re digging into the fruits of our labor, Dame Francine Kowalsky will present two perfect burger pairings wines—a Ferrari Spumante bubbly and Argentine Malbec from Familia Cassone—walking us through a wine tasting and talking about the pairing elements of both.

Dame Tanya Shevloff-Roth, Partner, The Gotham Burger Social Club / @tanya_shevroth

English, Turkish, American – steeped overnight in Asian spice, rubbed with freshness and shrimp butter – that’s Tanya. Since childhood, she’s gravitated toward food. Whether hovering near her family’s Turkish restaurant’s vertical roasting lamb or observing her uncle’s work at the butcher shop while perched on an olive barrel, food has been her calling. Through her years in hospitality, Tanya discovered her passion for both the kitchen’s chaos and the restaurant’s front of the house warmth. Crafting genuine, honorable dining experiences is her life’s pursuit.

Mike Puma, Founder, The Gotham Burger Social Club / @gothamburgersocialclub

For nearly three decades, Mike Puma has proudly called NYC his home. After sharing his love of burgers and cooking for a decade on social media, Puma managed to transform his passion into curating one of the city’s most illustrious pop-up foodie experiences. Over the course of three years, Puma’s culinary smashmanship has left an indelible mark serving hundreds of thousands of burgers fueled by nostalgic flavor and gaining an ever-growing huge following.

Dame Francine Kowalsky, Owner, WineDistilled / @francine.kowalsky

At Frederick Wildman, Francine held many different roles in Sales and Marketing, lastly as the AVP of Marketing for the Italian, South American and New World portfolios. Today Francine is the owner of WineDistilled, a sales and marketing firm dedicated to the wine and spirits industry. In addition to her wine and spirits business, Francine teaches cooking to children in an After School Program in Forest Hills.
