2020 LDNY Scholarship Application - Information

Les Dames d’Escoffier New York (LDNY) is an international organization of accomplished professional women in the food, fine beverage, and hospitality industries. The primary goal of the Annual Scholarship Program is to encourage talented women to become leaders in these industries by assisting them in furthering their professional education. In 2019, 17 deserving women were awarded a total of $58,000 in scholarships.

All winners will also be offered the opportunity to participate in our Mentorship Program. This program provides scholarship winners with additional support as they strive to advance in their chosen fields.

Rules for Eligibility

  • Only students enrolled or planning to enroll in one of our Partner Schools may apply.
  • Applicants must reside in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut.
  • Applicants must have completed at least one semester of higher education and they must be current students as of March 4, 2020. In addition, they must have at least one full semester to complete as scholarships are given directly to schools to cover tuition; seniors graduating in the spring of 2020 are not eligible. The only exception is for the Careers for Culinary Arts Scholarship, which is open to high school students entering C-CAP.

Application Process

  • New applications will be accepted starting January 20, 2020.
  • Students submit completed applications to their participating school's liaison. LDNY cannot accept applications directly from students.
  • School liaisons forward an electronic version of each student's application to ldnyscholarship@gmail.com no later than March 4, 2020.
  • Scholarship recipients will be selected in May 2020.
  • Scholarship recipients, school liaison and donors will be notified in May 2020.

Submit the application in the following order

  • Completed application Cover Page.
  • Resumé (no longer than 2 pages).
  • Official transcript from the current institution or most recent college/university.
  • A 3-part Essay of 500 words or less, see description below.
  • Two professional letters of recommendation (Note: Recommendations from friends or relatives will not be accepted). 

500-Word Essay should include

  • Career plans, goals and aspirations.
  • Relevant experience that supports career plans.
  • Volunteer and/or community service and any recognition or awards received as a result of service.

 Important Additional Information

  • Incomplete applications cannot be accepted.
  • No additional material will be considered in the application process.
  • Applicants awarded scholarships will be notified in late May 2020.
  • A reception for scholarship recipients, mentors and guests will be held in July 2020. All scholarship recipients are encouraged to attend.
  • Applications will be accepted Wednesday, January 20, 2020 through Monday, March 4, 2020.
