Women Leaders in
Food, Fine Beverage & Hospitality

Who We Are

Les Dames d'Escoffier New York (LDNY) is the founding and largest chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International, the invitational organization of women leaders in the food, fine beverage and hospitality professions.

The Beginning

In 1973, Grande Dame Carol Brock received a charter from the esteemed all-male organization Les Amis d’Escoffier, which was established in homage to the legendary chef Auguste Escoffier.

This charter allowed Carol to launch the women's-only organization of LDEI with 50 highly regarded professional women in the culinary arts in and around New York City. Their investiture was held at the French Embassy in 1976 and Les Dames d'Escoffier New York was born.

In 1986, LDNY became the founding—and is still the largest—chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier International, which is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization of over 2,200 distinguished women professionals in 38 chapters in the US, Canada, United Kingdom and Mexico.

Today

LDNY remains dedicated to education, advocacy and philanthropy through the support of its partners and members in the greater New York City area.

In Julia's Own Words...

"Les Dames d'Escoffier is a leadership culinary organization composed of women who have not only achieved success in their profession, but who contribute significantly to their communities. Since its incorporation 25 years ago, Les Dames d'Escoffier has followed its mission to elevate the profession through mentoring members and helping worthy students succeed in their culinary careers. I am very proud to be a member."
