It will soon be time to vote for the new members of the Board of Directors as well as two Nominating Committee members and the new LDEI delegates. The easy-to-use Election Buddy format will be e-mailed to you thanks to Dame Mary Ellen Griffin who is an expert on the process. When you receive the ballot please respond as quickly as possible.
On Monday, September 26th, we will celebrate our very impressive new members with dinner at Rotisserie Georgette. Dame Sharon Franke has again created a wonderful evening for us. The LDEI President, Dame Maria Gomez-Laurens, is comingto the dinner and willhelp us to celebrate ourLDNY 40th Anniversary. Only a few places are left so respond quickly to attend this memorable event.
The dates of the conference are October 26th to 29th in Washington, DC. Last year we had an impressive program in Charleston, SC. Washington is anotherformidablevenue with what looks to be another great conference. The schedule, including pre-conference programs and optional dine-around dinners, is on the home page of www.ldei.org
We are so excited for a second year to have a program with a panel of food experts discussingthe coming trends in the food world. It's on Monday, October 17th at the Institute of Culinary Education, in their beautifulnew auditorium. Invitations will go out later this month via Brown Paper Tickets. Co-chairs Dames Alison Awerbuch and Suzi O'Rourke are working to make this event even more exciting than last year. Save the date!
Dame Dorie Greenspan will be interviewed by Dame Sara Moulton for our November 3rd program at Sur la Table on West 57th St. In addition to the cookies, we will have choucrouterie, cheese and wine. Dorie’s new cookie book, Dorie’s Cookies, will be available for purchase. What fun!
The new format for mentoring scholarship winners is moving forward smartly and with great enthusiasm. Students will spend "A Day in the Life" with a Dame who works in the area to which they aspire. It should be a great experience for them andvery rewarding for the Dames who have volunteered. Dames Alison and Suzi are again the co-chairs. They work so hard for us and create such wonderful results!
