Les Dames d´Escoffier New York is the founding and largest chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International. It is a by-invitation-only organization. Each prospective member must be recommended and sponsored by two Dames who are currently in good standing in the New York chapter. The membership process occurs once a year in the spring. The numbers of candidates accepted each year is limited. It is recommended that anyone who meet the criteria of Les Dames d´Escoffier and is interested in becoming a members of the New York chapter should first attend several of our events, as guest of a Dame. This will give one an understanding of our chapter and who our members are.
Members are women who have achieved distinction and high professional stature, are very knowledgeable in the areas of wine, food, and hospitality, and have a minimum of five years experience in their profession. Members enjoy successful careers as chefs and restaurateurs, cookbook authors, food journalists and historians, wine professionals, food publicists, culinary educators and hospitality executives—a list that is by no means exhaustive—in a wide array of food and beverage–related areas.
