It’s cold outside —
But still it was easy for me to stay warm. Reading through wonderful events and recipes kept me warm from the inside while working on The Journal. With the weather and environment still harsh outside and a natural disaster brought into our living rooms via TV, it is reassuring to see how much Dames always have cared and continue every day to make a difference in their community and beyond.
This issue of The Journal features stories of women who make and made a difference. From “mentoring” to the new Fales Library, Dames are on the forefront of giving back – and know how to have a good time while doing so — if the dishes consumed at many a occasion are any indication. Or as Julia Child said so well: “It's fun to get together and have something good to eat at least once a day. That's what human life is all about —enjoying things”.
Here is a preview of a few of the articles you will find inside this January 2010 issue of The Journal click here.

Picture this: On a beautiful October evening, 80 Dames and guests gathered on the wrap-around terrace of an elegant New York University penthouse on Washington Square Park to honor Grande Dame Carol Brock with a champagne reception for the creation of the Les Dames d’Escoffier Carol Brock New Acquisitions Program at the esteemed Fales Library at New York University. more on page 1.
The Mentor Becomes the Mentee
Over the past five years, mentoring has become increasingly important for our New York chapter, thanks to our many proactive mentors and mentees. After all, mentoring is a natural extension of our scholarship program. The synergy between these two activities represent our raison d’être. more on page 6.
