Les Dames d'Escoffier New York Presents: Year of the Dog Celebration - A Dim Sum Feast & Chinatown Tour, conducted by Dame Liz Young of Culinary and City Tours
Back alleys and chop suey, no more! From hand-pulled noodles to artistically presented dim sum, New York’s Chinatown flaunts a selection like never before, including foods from Hong Kong, and the Sichuan, Shaanxi, Guangdong, and Fujian provinces. The morning begins with a dim sum breakfast—steaming delicacies from the Cantonese tradition—so arrive hungry! We'll learn all about the neighborhood, explore a nearby temple, visit one of the unique food markets, sample Malaysian beef jerky, and end with a sweet treat. Dame Kathryn Gordon has been a Pastry Chef Instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education for over 14 years. A consultant to bakeries and food entrepreneurs, and the author of two cookbooks, she is a graduate of Vassar College, New York University Stern School of Business, and L’Academie de Cuisine.
Dame Sabrina Sexton is a chef, educator, consultant and Program Director for Culinary Arts at the Institute of Culinary Education. Sabrina cooked in some of New York’s finest restaurants including Gramercy Tavern and Chanterelle. She is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Institute of Culinary Education.
